Cambridge Wedding Photography
Documentary wedding photography across Cambridge and Cambridgeshire — real moments, gently guided, beautifully delivered. Preview within 24 hours.
You want photographs that look like your wedding actually felt, not a day spent posing for a stranger. My approach is documentary first: I follow the day as it unfolds, catch the real moments and genuine expressions, and step in only for the handful of portraits and family groups you actually want. Calm direction, no marching you around for hours.
I’m Jean-Luc, founder of Cambridge Photographers, a seasoned photographer with 27 years behind the lens. I’ve photographed weddings across Cambridge’s colleges, the register office, country houses and barns throughout Cambridgeshire.
A relaxed day, honestly photographed
The best wedding photographs happen when nobody’s performing. I keep things calm and unobtrusive: documentary storytelling through the day, a short and efficient set of family groups (planned with you beforehand so nobody’s left standing around), and gentle couple portraits in the best light your venue offers. You’ll barely notice me for much of the day, which is exactly the point.
Cambridge and Cambridgeshire wedding venues I know
Local knowledge keeps a wedding day calm and on schedule. I know the light, the timings and the quiet corners at venues across the county and the colleges. Some I’m near enough to call neighbours.
Country houses and barns near me:
- Minstrel Court — events space with gardens and a lake, minutes from me.
- Longstowe Hall — close to home, I know the grounds well.
- South Farm — a relaxed, characterful Cambridgeshire venue nearby.
- Burloes Hall — a private country house near Royston, generous grounds for portraits, an easy drive for me.
- Barrington Hall — a handsome country house in the village of Barrington, with gardens and parkland for unhurried portraits.
- The Old Hall, Ely — grounds with a lake and a distant view of Ely Cathedral across open country, lovely for relaxed portraits and a memorable sunset frame.
Cambridge colleges:
- King’s College — I’ve photographed plenty of weddings here. The Chapel and the lawns running down to the Backs are one of the great backdrops in England.
- Trinity College — another I know well from many weddings. Great Court is the grandest enclosed court in Cambridge.
- St John’s College — the Bridge of Sighs, New Court and the river, made for processional shots and portraits.
- Queens’ College — the Mathematical Bridge and the timbered Cloister Court, full of character in any weather.
- Clare College — Clare Bridge and the Fellows’ Garden, with gentle riverside light.
I also photograph at most other Cambridge colleges, including Emmanuel, Peterhouse and Pembroke, and at most Cambridge hotels, including The Graduate, the University Arms and the Gonville Hotel. Tell me your venue and I’ll talk you through the timings and the best spots for light.
We also travel throughout Cambridgeshire, East Anglia and England and Wales.
